Why Holt, Missouri?
In the fall of 2005 Rusty and some of his riding buddies set out find a destination location for a lunch ride. They were in search of some place all kinds of riders riding all kinds of bikes could meet up, have lunch, and then go for a ride in the country. They wanted some place sort of close to KC, but far enough to call it a ride.
The area had to include scenic cruises, some twisties for the sportbikers and some good gravel and dirt roads for the dualsport gang. It had to be a biker-friendly town with good atmosphere and plenty of parking for bikes, and of course, good food for hungry riders.
Holt, Missouri had it all: lots of great places to ride nearby, an historic uncrowded downtown with great parking; home to Charlie’s famous Holt Hill Climb; and a police chief that rides. But, no place to eat – Bummer! Since then, Dolly opened up her diner in the middle of Main Street, so now all we need is to show up on our bikes, eat great food and have fun.
